Welsh-caught bluefin tuna goes on sale to the public for the first time
Five fish landed at Milford Haven were processed in Burry Port, and most of the catch sold at a Saturday walk-in market.

Bluefin tuna caught in Welsh waters has been sold to the public for the first time, the Welsh Government said on Friday.
Five fish landed at Milford Haven in October were processed at Burry Port, and most of the tuna sold at a Saturday walk-in fish market there. The rest, including the fins, frames and heads, went out through a UK-wide home delivery service.
Burry Port fish business Whitfish handled the buying and selling. The fish were caught under a commercial and scientific trial run by the Welsh Government, in which boats use rod and reel only and record each catch in detail. In return they can target bluefin in set parts of Welsh waters, and must land what they catch at a designated port. In Wales those are Milford Haven and Holyhead.
Fishers hope to land more in the coming weeks, if the weather allows.
